A Nash County man was arrested Tuesday night for allegedly driving drunk. Johnston County deputies said they stopped a black Lincoln SUV for having an expired license plate on Bagley Road near Kenly.
During the 11:46pm traffic stop, the deputy said he detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. The driver, Robert Lewis Escobar, 29, of Cedar Lake Court, Middlesex was charged with driving while impaired and possession of marijuana. Escobar registered 0.13 on the breathalyzer, above the legal limit of 0.08. Authorities also said Escobar had a juvenile riding in the back seat of his vehicle.
Escobar was transported to the Johnston County Jail where his bail was set at $5,000.
