Eagle Scout Recognized

An Eagle Scout Ceremony was held on December 18th for Eagle Scout Thomas Keene Luter from Boy Scout Troop #33 of Clayton. The event took place at the Oakland Presbyterian Church on Cleveland Road.

Thomas is a freshman and Honor Roll student at Cleveland High School where he is a member of the swim team and high school marching band. Thomas currently hold the leadership position of Patrol Leader in Boy Scout Troop #33 and is also a member of the Order of the Arrow, the Honor Society of the Boy Scouts of America.

Thomas has earned 55 merit badges, that’s 34 more than the required 21 merit badges needed for the rank of Eagle Scout. He has also earned his God & Country award in keeping with the 12th point of the Boy Scout Law, a Scout is Reverent.

During the ceremony, Thomas (center) also was presented the Eagle Scout Good Citizenship Award from Junior Past Commandant Devell “Bull” Durham Jr. (right) and Eagle Scout Coordinator Lewis W. Rice III (left) on behalf of the Johnston County Marine Corps League Carry-On Detachment #1236.

Thomas is the son of Bret and Kelly Yelvington Luter of Clayton.
