Eagle Scout Recognized

Gronendyke ArticleEvan Lee Gronendyke (center), the son of Tim and Sharon Gronendyke of Kenly was awarded the Eagle Scout Good Citizenship Award on Sunday from Commandant Timothy Daniel (left) and Eagle Scout Coordinator Lewis W. Rice III (right) of the Johnston County Marine Corps League Carry-On Detachment #1236. The Master of Ceremonies conducting the Eagle Scout Court of Honor was Evan’s former Scoutmaster Mr. Woody Wood.

Evan is a member of Boy Scout Troop 63 of Pine Level where he is a member of the Order of the Arrow – the honor society of the Boy Scouts of America – and has earned 30 merit badges on his trail to become an Eagle Scout. Evan recently completed his Eagle Scout project where he did land beautification work and built a bird sanctuary at the Autumn Home Care Assisted Living Facility in Selma.

Gronendyke is also a recent 2015 graduate of North Johnston High School where he served four years in the Air Force JROTC while continuing his journey to earn Scouting’s highest award as an Eagle Scout.
