William “Kyle” Walker of Boy Scout Troop 210 at McGee’s Crossroads was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout during a ceremony held Saturday at Providence Presbyterian Church on Highway 210 near Angier.
Walker was also presented the Eagle Scout Good Citizenship Award from Eagle Scout Coordinator Lewis W. Rice III on behalf of the Johnston County Marine Corps League Carry-On Detachment #1236.
Walker is a senior at West Johnston High School and will be graduating this Friday. He currently holds a leadership position in his Troop as an Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, where he has earned his God and Country Award, is also a member of the Order of the Arrow and the Honor Society of the Boy Scouts of America.
For his Eagle Scout Project, Walker, who loves animals, built a 12 x 20 building to house the materials needed to build habitant and enrichments for animals at CCI, a wildlife conservation center located in Burlington. With the cost of the building at more than $2,100, it took Kyle over two years to raise the money, but it was finally completed last December.
He is the son of Gene and Kim Walker of Angier.
