SMITHFIELD – An early morning chain-reaction accident involving five cars and a tractor trailer slowed traffic on US 70 Business near Yelverton Road, just east of Smithfield.
A pickup truck driver was slightly injured but refused treatment at the scene.
Traffic remained slow through the area for about an hour following the 6:45am Tuesday mishap.
The State Highway Patrol investigated the accident.
