SELMA – An early morning fire destroyed a two story home in Downtown Selma. The fire was reported around 4:00AM at 212 W. Watson Street.
The old home was fully involved when first responders arrived. Selma, Pine Level and Smithfield Fire Departments spent an hour containing the massive blaze.
Selma Fire Chief Phillip McDaniel said the home was vacant and in the process of being renovated. The cause of the fire has not been determined but remains under investigation by the Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office and Selma Police Department.
According to county tax records the home was built in 1940. No injuries were reported.
