Eastfield Adds LongHorn Steakhouse As Selma Project Grows

SELMA — A new LongHorn Steakhouse has opened at the Eastfield development in Selma, marking the first location for the chain in Johnston County. The restaurant celebrated its ribbon-cutting Wednesday.
The steakhouse is the third national restaurant to open at Eastfield, a 435-acre, 3 million-square-foot master-planned, mixed-use development located near Interstate 95 at exits 97 and 98 in Selma.
Kevin Dougherty, president of AdVenture Development, said the company was pleased to welcome the brand to the project, calling it a milestone for the growing development.
Selma Mayor Byron McAllister said the restaurant is expected to bring more than 90 jobs to the area and pointed to Eastfield’s broader economic potential. When fully built out, the development is projected to generate approximately 5,500 jobs, according to project leaders.
Johnston County Commissioner Mike Rose highlighted the impact of new businesses on local tax revenues, noting that $87 million in North Carolina sales tax revenue returned to Johnston County last year.
Eastfield includes residential and commercial components. Plans call for 211 single-family homes, a senior living community and Quincy at Eastfield, a 348-unit multifamily complex currently under construction.
Commercial features include a 375,000-square-foot shopping center, a business park, specialty retail, medical facilities, coworking space, hospitality, restaurants and entertainment venues. Recently completed projects include the Eastfield shopping center and Eastfield Business Park Building 100, which houses Veetee Foods and Crystal Windows.
The development is also home to the Triangle East Collaborative, which includes Old North State Food Hall, Longleaf Tavern, JR Cigar, Shield Republic and Carolina Wholesale Flooring.
LongHorn Steakhouse operates hundreds of locations nationwide and is known for its grilled steak offerings.
