Eaton To Add 30 Jobs With $6.8 Million Expansion In Middlesex

MIDDLESEX – Global power management company Eaton is expanding its aerospace components facility in Nash County, bringing 30 new jobs and a $6.8 million investment to the Town of Middlesex, state officials announced Thursday.

Governor Josh Stein praised the move as a reaffirmation of North Carolina’s standing in the aerospace sector.

“Eaton’s recommitment to North Carolina strengthens our position as a national leader in aerospace manufacturing,” Stein said. “Our aerospace supply chain continues to thrive in the first-in-flight state, making us not only the birthplace of aviation but also a hub for its future.”

Eaton Aerospace Group has operated in Middlesex for nearly five decades, first opening its plant in 1976 and expanding in 1982. The facility produces advanced systems and critical components for commercial and defense aircraft, including fluid conveyance products such as hoses and tubing.

The new project will add 40,000 square feet to the manufacturing plant and establish a distribution center for hose products and components that will support Eaton’s customers around the world.

Traci Melville, President of Eaton’s Fluid and Electrical Distribution Division, said the expansion reflects the company’s long-term vision.

“This investment underscores our commitment to the Middlesex facility and to serving our customers with greater efficiency and responsiveness,” Melville said. “By expanding our footprint and creating new jobs, we’re positioning ourselves for sustained growth.”

State Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley said Eaton’s choice to grow in Nash County highlights the strength of North Carolina’s rural workforce.

“Eaton’s decision is a strong vote of confidence in our business climate,” Lilley said. “By adding a distribution center and new jobs, they’re helping us build a more resilient supply chain and a stronger economy.”

The new positions are expected to generate more than $1.7 million in annual payroll in the region.

To support the project, Eaton Aeroquip LLC has been awarded a performance-based grant of $100,000 from the One North Carolina Fund. The program awards no money upfront; companies must meet job creation and investment targets before receiving funds. Local government matching is also required.

Local lawmakers welcomed the announcement.

“This expansion is great news for Middlesex and Nash County,” said State Senator Lisa S. Barnes. “More jobs mean more opportunity and a stronger future for our families.”

“Eaton’s growth shows what’s possible when businesses believe in our people,” added State Representative Allen Chesser. “These new jobs will make a real difference for families here.”

Key partners in the project include the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, the North Carolina Community College System, Nash Community College, Nash County, Nash County Economic Development, Duke Energy, and the Town of Middlesex.
