A local elected officials says someone stole their identify and used their personal information to obtain a loan.

Four Oaks Town Councilman Christopher Gregory Haley Sr. filed a report Thursday.  Haley lives in the city limits of Four Oaks but did not report the incident to Four Oaks Police.  Instead he filed the report with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Caldwell told WTSB News on Friday the incident was under investigation.  Additional details were not immediately released.

This is not the first time Councilman Haley has been in the news.  Just hours after attending a Four Oaks Town Council meeting in June, Haley was arrested for domestic assault. The victim in the case was his wife.

According to the arrest warrant, Mr. Haley allegedly committed the assault by “…hitting her in her left arm and shoulder with his closed fist several times.”  The warrant lists the date of offense as Monday, June 8th but it did not specify a time.

Haley appeared in Johnston County Court on the charge on July 6th. The case was postponed for trial until December 7th.  He is currently free on a $1,000 bond.

Haley is currently serving his first term on the Four Oaks Town Board. He has filed for reelection in November.
