Elf Academy: Crafting Joy, One Helper At A Time

CLAYTON – Santa has new recruits who are ready to celebrate the holiday season. The Town of Clayton’s 2024 Elf Academy, hosted by the Parks and Recreation Department, brings the enchantment of the North Pole right here – just a sleigh ride away.

Held on December 7 at the Clayton Community Center, the Elf Academy welcomed 160 eager participants, ages three to 12, for four sold-out sessions.

During the hour-long program, they dove into toy making, ornament crafting, gift wrapping, and more – all while learning how to become jolly assistants.

“Elf Academy is one of our favorite traditions here in Clayton,” said Lauren Lambert, Town of Clayton Parks and Recreation Marketing and Special Events Coordinator. “Santa’s workshop might be in the North Pole, but the magic is alive and well right in front of us. We love that this program sparks festive cheer where local kids become Santa’s little helpers and create memories to last a lifetime.”

From learning some of Santa’s secrets to earning their official Elf Certificate, participants experienced the delight of creating something special and left with crafts to share at home.

The highlight of the event was a visit with Santa himself, spreading joy and excitement with his merry laughter and warm-hearted spirit.

“Watching these kids leave with their certificates and crafts is truly heartwarming,” Lambert added. “It’s wonderful seeing them embrace the spirit of the season and leave with the ability to bring positivity wherever they go. We’re already looking forward to making next year’s event even more whimsical!”
