A criminal investigation is now underway at a Johnston County Elementary School. The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Wednesday they are investigating allegations money was embezzled at West Clayton Elementary School, located at 1012 S. Lombard Street in Clayton.
The investigation reportedly involves $4,479 in money that was allegedly embezzled. The missing funds was reported by school officials Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities declined to release any additional details due to the ongoing investigation, including when the money was allegedly taken or information on a possible suspect.
