KENLY – An emergency shelter training exercise was carried out Monday by Johnston County Emergency Services, along with several other County agencies.
The training took place at North Johnston Middle School, which is one of many locations in Johnston County that serve as emergency shelters in the event of a disaster.
Staff participated in simulated exercises to better prepare for actual emergency scenarios. There were cots set up in the gym of the school; meals ready to eat (MREs) displayed in the cafeteria; and representatives from other County agencies, such as Animal Services, who gave presentations to the group on the crisis response protocols they had in place.
