A retail store employee has been arrested for allegedly embezzling from a Smithfield business.
The incidents occurred between February 24th and March 28th at Nike Factory Store on Outlet Center Drive.
Police Captain R. Sheppard said 25 year-old Jarrett Trequan Crandle of Wilson would manipulate the sales system to deeply discount merchandise he was buying for himself. In many of the cases, the purchases were discounted more than 90 percent and Crandle was buying items for pennies on the dollar.
Altogether, Nike reportedly lost $2,602.73 in the scheme.
Crandle was arrested at the business on Tuesday and charged with felony larceny by an employee. He was transported to the Johnston County Jail where he was incarcerated under a $10,000 bond.
