Johnston County Commissioners have awarded bids for two separate purchases for Johnston County EMS.
EMS Division Chief Josh Holloman received approval to purchase 20 cardiac monitors and defibrillators as part of the 2016 Assistance to Firefighters Grant. The purchase was rebid after the original company was unable to deliver the devices due to a federal recall involving some of their parts.
Zoll Medical was awarded the latest bid for $517,328. As part of the grant, Johnston County was required to match 10 percent of the cost, which is included in the current fiscal year budget.
Commissioners also approved a request for $137,618.80 with Stryker Medical for two Power-Pro XT ambulance cots and 5 Power Load fastener systems. Funds for the purchase were also included in this years budget. The cots will allow EMS crews to more safely move patients, Holloman said.
