EMS To Purchase New Cardiac Defibrillators

Johnston County Emergency Services will spend $256,547.25 to purchase nine new cardiac monitor/defibrillators through the federal Assistance to Firefighters (AFG) grant.

The defibrillators will be purchased from Zoll Medical Corporation at a price of $28,505.25 each.

The purchase will allow the EMS fleet to have consistent equipment.  In a memo to Johnston County Commissioners, Johnston County Emergency Services Director Kevin Hubbard wrote, “By standardizing complex medical equipment such as the monitor/defibrillator, we minimize the opportunity for human error when treating and transporting cardiac patients.”

Commissioners unanimously approved the purchase.
