SELMA – A Johnston County EMS medic SUV was struck while at the scene of a motor vehicle accident. The initial accident was reported around 8:30am Thursday on Highway 39 at Little Divine Road.

A silver Chevrolet and while Honda collided at the intersection, causing several injuries.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and Bethany Fire Department were on the scene providing traffic control as Johnston County EMS tended to the injured. That’s when witnesses said a pickup truck towing a trailer hauling a skid steer crashed into the parked EMS medic unit. The pickup narrowly missed several bystanders and first responders.

The EMS vehicle was pushed forward under a carport, barely avoiding a building next to the intersection. There were no injuries in the second accident.

Highway 39 was shut down for about an hour before the two separate accidents could be cleared.

The State Highway Patrol is investigating both collisions.
