Thieves stole a man’s dentures during a car break-in in Smithfield.
Smithfield Police tell WTSB News that 5 car break-ins have been reported in the city limits since Saturday. Three of the vehicles were left unlocked. In the other two cases, the vehicles were locked and the suspects shattered a window to gain entry.
In one of the break-ins on Sunday, thieves broke into a parked car on South Brightleaf Boulevard and removed more than $2,000 in jewelry and other items, including the victims false teeth. The dentures were valued at $200, according to a police report.
Smithfield Police said the other break-ins occurred on S. Sussex Drive, W. Edgerton Street, and Booker Dairy Road.
