NEWTON GROVE – Three adults and two children were displaced by flames that heavily damaged their doublewide mobile home. It happened around 9:00pm Wednesday in the 7900 block of US 701 South near Marler Road, in southern Johnston County.

Firefighters from Bentonville, Newton Grove, Meadow, and Strickland’s Crossroads were on the scene along with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office, and Johnston County EMS.

One resident was transported to the hospital for evaluation. The others were checked out at the scene and released.

The Red Cross is assisting the family. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
