Family Displaced After Fire Rips Through Johnston County Home

BENTONVILLE – A rural Johnston County home was destroyed by flames. The fire was reported just after 11:00am Tuesday on Harper House Road at Scout Road in the Bentonville community.

Neighbors said they observed smoke in the area for sometime before finding the unoccupied home, several hundred feet off the roadway, was on fire.

The Bentonville, Strickland’s Crossroads, Jordan’s Chapel and Grantham Fire Departments arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames.

Johnston County Emergency Services Fire Marshal Division said the fire started in the laundry room area but the exact cause has not been determined.

The Red Cross was called to assist a family of four displaced by the fire.

No injuries were reported.

  1. Because 4 people lived in the home at the time of the fire however none of them were at home when the fire occurred.

  2. The family of four was not home when the fire occurred. They are displaced because the fire destroyed their home and they can no longer live there.
