A Smithfield family was displaced from their residence after a fire damaged their home Thursday night.
Smithfield and Selma fire crews responded to a 7:22pm alarm at 108 Regency Place off Booker Dairy Road. Firefighters quickly extinguished a kitchen fire, but not before the blaze had caused smoke damage throughout the entire damage.
Damage to the residence was estimated at $15,000 according to interim Smithfield Fire Chief John Blanton. No injuries were reported, however the Red Cross was called to assist the family.
The Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office also responded to the scene to investigation, however, Blanton said the blaze was ruled accidental.
