Family Dollar Employee Killed During Robbery

GOLDSBORO – An employee at a Wayne County Family Dollar Store was shot and killed.  Around 3:15pm Sunday,  Goldsboro Police responded to the Family Dollar at 1403 Wayne Memorial Drive.

Police said two men can into the business and shot the victim during the robbery.  The suspects ran away from the business.  They were located a short distance away and taken into custody without further incident.

The victim, Alexander Thomas, 46, of Goldsboro was found behind the register with a single gunshot wound to the chest. He was working at the business at the time of the robbery. Thomas was rushed to UNC Health Wayne where he succumbed to his injuries.  

The two suspects, Yiheim Quishown Fryar, 20, of Goldsboro and Aaron Taiwan Coppedge, 24, of LaGrange were charged with armed robbery and murder.  They are being held in the Wayne County Detention Center without bond.

  1. A person goes to work and never makes it home. Heart breaking. I hope the 2 Killers get death! No need to have these two POS get out in 10 to 20 years. KILL THEM! The man they murdered was also retired Air Force. He served our country and what did his killers serve. Sick, sick, sick!

  2. Speedy trial and a public execution will slow this type of crime way down. Mr. Thomas is gone forever and so should they be.
