A Wayne County Family Dollar employee was shot during an armed robbery. Deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said it happened around 10:00PM Friday at the Family Dollar on US Highway 117 South in the Mar Mac Community.
The clerk was shot once during the holdup. The clerk was transported to Wayne UNC Hospital for treatment where she was listed in good condition.
The suspect fled from the business on foot. A K-9 was brought to the scene but was unsuccessful in locating the gunman. He was described as a black male, approximately 5 foot 10, with a slim build, short dreads, wearing a black hoodie, dark pants, a white undershirt, white tennis shoes and a dark bandana over his face. The suspect was also armed with a small caliber handgun.
