Family Escapes Burning Home

A family was displaced from their home following a fire Saturday afternoon in western Johnston County.

The blaze was reported to 911 dispatchers around 2:00pm on Sanders Road just off Highway 50 North of McGee’s Crossroads.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage area of the home.  The garage was destroyed and the home sustained heavy damage.

Several vehicles including lawn equipment had been parked in the garage. They were a total loss.

Six people lived at the home. Three were at home with the fire broke out and escaped without any injury.   They are being assisted by the Red Cross.

The Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
