A mother and her two children escaped without injury after their car burst into flames Saturday night.
The mother was traveling on Swift Creek Road near Highway 210 outside of Smithfield and began to smell smoke. She stopped her car, got her children out of the vehicle, and spotted flames. She moved her children away from the burning car and called for help.
The Smithfield and Wilson’s Mills Fire Departments responded to the scene to find the car completely engulfed in flames. The vehicle was so extensively damaged by the fire, authorities were unable to pinpoint the exact cause, but firefighters tell WTSB the fire appeared to be accidental.
Luckily no injuries were reported. Contributed photos
