Two adults and 5 children were displaced by a late night fire in the McGee’s Crossroads area outside of Benson.
The fire was reported to 911 at 8:44pm Tuesday at 116 Switch Cane Lane. One of the five children said she heard her sister scream from the back of the home then realize there was a fire. She woke another sister up and everyone got out of the burning home safely. “We were all crying, ” she said.
50-210, Cleveland and Elevation Fire Departments responded and found flames coming from the rear of the singlewide mobile home. The home sustained extensive damage. The family’s possession were a total loss.
The family was renting the home and had no renters insurance. The Red Cross responded and will provide temporary lodging and other short-term assistance.
No injuries were reported.
