A house fire early Friday claimed one life. The fire was reported at 5:01am at 650-B Oliver’s Grove Road, off US 301 South of Four Oaks.
Authorities said a neighbor called 911 reporting a mobile home was on fire. Crews from Benson, Elevation and Four Oaks Fire Departments rushed to the scene. The fire was brought under control at 5:31am, according to Johnston County Fire Marshal Adam Stanley.
One body was found inside mobile home. Authorities have not said who the victim might be but reports indicate an elderly woman lived alone at the address.
The body was transported to the NC Medical Examiner’s Office in Raleigh for an autopsy and identification.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, Johnston County Fire Marshal, NC SBI and federal ATF agents responded to the scene.
The cause of the fire has not been determined but remains under investigation, Stanley told WTSB News.
