A Johnston County father is accused of severely abusing his own 2 month-old son. The infant is now undergoing medical treatment for broken arms and legs, injuries classified as both old and new.
This morning (Tuesday), 28 year-old Chad Brandon Capps of the 2100 block of Old Cornwallis Road, Princeton was taken into custody. Capps was charged with felony child abuse causing serious bodily injury. He was booked into the Johnston County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
Johnston County Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Caldwell said detectives were notified by the Department of Social Services about the injuries earlier this month after the baby was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment. Authorities said the two month-old had a broken left femur, broken right femur, broken forearms, and fractures to his tibia and fibula.
Caldwell said the incident remains under investigation. The condition of the child is being closely monitored by social workers.
