A Fed Ex delivery driver sustained injuries following a two vehicle accident Thursday afternoon in West Smithfield.
Smithfield Police said the crash occurred at 3:03pm on West Market Street at Wilson’s Mills Road.
The Fed Ex truck was leaving the parking lot of Food Lion attempting to turn westbound on Market when it was struck by a Jeep SUV traveling eastbound that ran through a red light at the intersection.
The driver of the Fed Ex truck, Jean Remys Raymond of Raleigh complained of pain in his back and wrist but refused transport to the hospital. The driver of the Jeep, Chynna D L Thomas of Bagley Road, Kenly was not injured. Police said Ms. Thomas admitted to failing to stop for the red light.
Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $5,000.
Thomas was cited for a stop light violation.
