Authorities have released the name of a man who was killed in a crash Tuesday morning on Federal Road near Benson.
48 year-old Ramon Alejandro Ponce Luna, 48, of Buffaloe Road, Raleigh was operating a Ford pickup on Federal Road around 6:15am when he traveled off the roadway to the left, went down an embankment, and overturned into a tree. Luna died instantly in the crash due to blunt force trauma, according to the Johnston County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor.
It is unknown why Luna was in the Benson area.
