Smithfield – The filing period for the Johnston County Soil & Water Conservation District has opened.
Interested candidates can file at the Johnston County Board of Elections Office on S. 2nd Street in Smithfield now through Friday, July 6th.
Two seats are up for election this year. They are currently held by John Langdon and Douglas Lee.
The filing period opened Tuesday. On the first day, two candidates filed for the two seats. They include Timmy Wayne Strickland of River Road, Selma, the owner of Strickland’s Surveillance & Safety Products and Doris Louise Wallace of N. Roderick Drive, Smithfield, a retired social worker.
Voters will decide on the Soil & Water Conservation candidates during the Nov. 6th elections.
