Fire Breaks Out In Clayton Home

CLAYTON – A Clayton couple escaped with their dog and their lives on Monday afternoon when a fire broke out at their Barbour Street home. The couple reported that they were just leaving for dinner when they spotted smoke coming from their roof.

Firefighters arrived almost immediately following the call but the fire had gotten into the attic and heavily damaged the home and its contents.

Clayton, Cleveland and Northside fire departments fought the blaze.

The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the retired couple.

Barbour Street remained closed for hours while investigators searched for a cause of the fire. The home was left unlivable.
