Several fire departments responded to a large fire Thursday night at Byrd’s Wholesale on Highway 
70 Business west of Smithfield.
The blaze was reported shortly after 8:00PM.
Due to the fire and the number of emergency vehicles on the scene, a section of Highway 70 was shut down.
The company manufactures sheds.
There was no immediate word on what sparked the massive fire.
