Update: Cause Of Selma House Fire Determined

UPDATE 6:05PM – The Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office has ruled today’s house fire as accidental. Fire Marshal Ryan Parker said the blaze originated in a bedroom on the second floor and was caused by an overloaded electrical circuit. The home was under renovation.


SELMA – Multiple fire departments responded to a house fire Friday morning in Selma. The fire was reported just before 11:30am at a home in the 300 block of W. Railroad Street.Firefighters from Selma, Smithfield, Pine Level, Micro, and Wilson’s Mills responded. A ladder truck was used to help bring the fire under control.

Selma Police blocked off several streets around the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
