Three fire departments responded to a house fire Tuesday morning at 221 E. Second Street in Downtown Clayton.
Smoke and flames were coming from the attic and roof when firefighters arrived. Fire crews made entry and were able to quickly knock down the fire.
The blaze displaced three adults and one child. One adult was taken to the hospital after suffering chest pains. The Red Cross is now assisting the family.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Clayton Fire Marshal.
The Clayton, Cleveland and Archer Lodge Fire Departments responded. They were assisted by Johnston County EMS and Clayton Police.
