Fire Damages Clayton Home

CLAYTON – Firefighters found a home fully engulfed in flames Monday night. The call came in around 7:20pm at a home in the 9400 block of US 70 Business, near the NC 42 East intersection.

Clayton, Cleveland, and Wilson’s Mills Fire responded to the blaze. The home and contents were heavily damaged. Fortunately, the occupant was able to get out safely. She is being assisted by the American Red Cross.

One lane of US 70 was shut down while fire crews were on the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
