An overnight fire damaged a local convenience store. Around midnight (Thursday) flames caused heavy damage at the T-Mart on Highway 301 at Highway 242 in Benson.
Crews from the Benson, Four Oaks and Elevation Fire Departments responded to the scene to put out the fire. Benson Police had to shut down Highway 301 due to the number of emergency vehicles in the highway and because of fire hoses stretched across the travel lanes.
Johnston County EMS crews stood by at the scene however no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office.
