Fire Damages Downtown Four Oaks Building

FOUR OAKS – Three fire departments rushed to a burning building in Downtown Four Oaks on Tuesday night.

A Four Oaks police officer on patrol spotted smoke coming from the former Murray’s Pawn Shop at 103 East Wellons Street around 9:35PM.  Four Oaks fire crews responded and were assisted by the Elevation and Smithfield Fire Departments.

The adjacent Johnston County EMS Logistics facility, formerly the location of Four Oaks EMS, was not damaged but some smoke did enter the building.

Four Oaks EMS and Johnston County Emergency Services stood by at the scene which was cleared around 1:00AM.

Deputy Fire Marshal Ryan Parker said the fire started in a room at the rear of the structure. The cause still remains under investigation.  There were no injuries.
