A fire damaged a home in the Whitley Heights community Sunday night. The Wilson’s Mills, Smithfield and Clayton Fire Departments responded to the blaze at 203 Cottonwood Drive.
Crews quickly contained the fire in one room. Five people were in the home when the fire started. One occupant was transported to Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield for treatment of smoke inhalation.
The Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
