The Smithfield Fire Department will be added a new SUV to its fleet.
At their January meeting, the Smithfield Town Council approved the purchase of a Chevy Tahoe four wheel drive SUV for the fire department.
The fire department received three bids . Capital Chevrolet in Raleigh submitted a bid of $38,347.91. Kenly Chevrolet bid $39,608. Deacon Jones Chevrolet in Smithfield bid $36,960.
The purchased was approved with the low bidder, Deacon Jones Chevrolet.
The SUV will replace a 2001 Ford Expedition.
