WILSON’S MILLS – Wilson’s Mill Fire and Police quickly responded with Johnston County EMS and NC DOT to a driver in distress on Fire Department Road, Tuesday afternoon.
For an unknown reason the driver, while on his lunch break from a local grocery store, drove off the right side of the road and up a steep embankment before crashing into a concrete driveway culvert. He was transported to an area hospital.
The crashing car threw a large amount of red-clay dirt and gavel across part of the road. A NC DOT supervisor at the scene cleaned up the field of debris.
Traffic was intermittently backed up on Fire Department Road by the single-car accident.
