A suspicious fire near Four Oaks is under investigation.
Just after 10 o’clock Tuesday night, flames destroyed a barn at 413-G block Juniper Church Road. Fire crews from the Four Oaks, Blackmon’s Crossroads and Strickland’s Crossroads Fire Departments responded to the scene to contain the blaze.
The Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office and Johnston County Sheriff’s Office are jointly investigating.
Sheriff’s Captain A.C. Strickland said no electricity was connected to the barn.
Paul Whitehurst, Assistant Director of Johnston County Emergency Services, said the barn was a total loss. The barn was owned by Charles Lee of Smithfield.
