A Smithfield house fire Tuesday morning displaced two adults from their South Brightleaf Boulevard home. The early morning fire is believed to have been started by a heater being used to keep the home warm.
The home was a total loss.
Water from the fire trucks that responded to the scene spilled onto South Brightleaf Boulevard causing some slick spots. The NC DOT brought sand to the scene to spread on the icy roadway before it was reopened to traffic.
No injuries were reported. Photos by John Payne
