Fire Destroys Cricket Farm

DUNN – Fire departments from four counties battled a massive fire today (Tuesday) at Warren Cricket Farm at 212 Bait Road outside of Dunn in Harnett County.  The fire was reported by an employee around 10:00am. All 13 employees made it out safely.

Crews from Harnett, Johnston, Sampson and Cumberland county fire departments battled the fire at the 33,000 square foot building before bringing it under control around 3:00pm, according to Dunn Fire Chief Rodney Eason.

There were no injuries to employees or firefighters.  Due to water supply issues, multiple fire units were needed.

Fire departments from Moore and Lee counties sent crews to Harnett County to respond to emergency fire calls because most Harnett County fire departments were tied up with the massive blaze.

Warren Cricket Farm is one of the largest cricket farms in North Carolina.

Chief Eason said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
