Fire Destroys Home Condemned After Meth Lab Discovery

Fire Duchess DriveA home that has been abandoned for several months since a meth lab was discovered on the property went up in flames early-Saturday morning.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people in the meth lab bust on December 17, 2014. The investigation later led to the arrest of three more individuals, according to Sheriff’s Narcotics Captain A.C. Fish.

Early Saturday morning, the vacant home on Duchess Drive went up in flames. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office. Assistant Fire Marshal B. Wallace told WTSB News there was power to the site but not in the home, which was in the process of undergoing renovations after being condemned. 

The Clayton, Cleveland, and 50/210 Fire Departments extinguished the fire. Johnston County EMS also stood by at the scene.
