Fire Destroys Home In Northern Johnston County

CORINTH HOLDERS – A woman returned home Saturday afternoon to find her house destroyed following a fast-moving fire in the Corinth Holders community of northern Johnston County.

The blaze was reported around noon at a home on Denton Lane, off Lake Wendell Road, near Zebulon.

Corinth Holders firefighters said they could see heavy smoke from their station, and immediately notified Johnston County 911 before responding to the scene.

When crews arrived, towering flames had already burned through the roof and were shooting from the front windows of the residence.

Due to the intensity of the fire and the rural location, a Tanker Task Force response was requested, bringing additional fire units from departments in Johnston and Wake counties to assist with water supply and firefighting operations.

Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control in less than 30 minutes. Despite the quick response, the home and its contents were destroyed.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office.
