PRINCETON – An eastern Johnston County home was deemed a total loss following a weekend fire.

Fire personnel from Johnston and Wayne counties responded to the blaze at 61 Williams Place Drive, off Fellowship Church Road, just after 10:30am Sunday.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage area, and two vehicles parked in the driveway burning.

The occupants in the home had escaped the fire and gone to a neighbors home.

Winds helped the house fire spread rapidly. It took nearly an hour to contain the flames.

The Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office said the fire started in the garage, but the origin has not been determined.

One occupant was treated at the scene by Johnston County EMS for a minor burn injury.

Two family pets – a dog and cat – did not survive.

The Red Cross responded to assist the family of four.

The Princeton, Kenly, Micro, Pine Level, and Nahunta Fire Departments responded.

  1. Thank God no one was seriously injured. I know the family pets did not make it and I am sorry for that, but the people survived. Good job to all the FDs involved with the weather conditions the way they were.
