Someone attempted to set fire to a Johnston County home early Sunday morning while the occupants were asleep inside.
Between 3:30am and 4:30am someone intentionally started several fires outside a home on Duchess Drive off Pierce Road not far from the NC 42 / I-40 interchange.
Johnston County deputies said a fire was intentionally set on several sections of the exterior of the home and in several sections of debris on the ground next to the home. Authorities also said there was a strong odor of gasoline.
A burned bottle was also found outside the home.
Damage was estimated at $2,500 to the exterior of the home. No one inside was injured.
