A Smithfield fire truck was heavily damaged in the parking lot of the Smithfield Fire Station Wednesday morning.
A fireman was attempting to back a fire truck into the station around 10:15am when he collided with a concrete barrier adjacent to the EMS station.
The barrier struck the right side of the fire truck. According to a Smithfield Police accident report the truck sustained $20,000 in damage. Interim Fire Chief John Blanton told WTSB News on Friday officials are still waiting on an exact repair cost.
The driver of the fire truck, Thomas Ray Johnson Jr., was not cited. None of the 5 firemen on the truck were injured.
No charges were filed by police.
