A Johnston County homeowner whose residence was damaged by fire last week has now been arrested.
Last Monday July 18th, a fire was intentionally set on the rear deck of a home on Eddleston Court, off Gordon Road, between Clayton and Wilson’s Mills. The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office announced the next day the case was being treated as arson. Fortunately, damage was minimal.
On Friday, the owner of the home, 34 year-old Stewart Thomas Windle of Eddleston Court, Clayton was arrested. Detective Lt. Don Pate said during a search of the scene authorities located a weapon inside the home. Windle was a convicted felon and under state law is not allowed to possession a firearm.
Windle was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. He was given an $80,000 bond.
Lt. Pate said the investigation into the fire was still ongoing. No injuries were reported.
