A firefighter was arrested Wednesday night for allegedly driving while impaired while off duty. A Selma police officer stopped a 2002 Chevy pickup truck after the driver allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of US70 and Ricks Road around 11:40pm.
The driver of the truck, identified as Kristopher Kevin Hinnant, 24, of Hinnant Edgerton Road, Selma was charged with driving while impaired and failure to stop for a red light.
Keith Tessinear, Public Information Officer with the City of Raleigh Fire Department confirmed Hinnant has been a firefighter with the department for just under 2 years.
Hinnant was released from custody pending a May 19, 2016 court appearance.
No additional details about the traffic stop were released by Selma Police.
